11 Feb Cantillon 2013
I worked to develop Cantillon 2013 – a forum which is particularly dedicated to the promotion and acceleration of both entrepreneurial and economic growth. Like Richard Cantillon himself, who pioneered a path of forward economic thinking, the 2013 forum provided an excellent opportunity for businesses of all size, to develop national contacts and engage with like-minded professionals. Fruition project managed the hugely successful Cantillon 2013 at Institute of Technology Tralee in 2013. This event was also managed by Fruition in 2010 under the titleRichard Cantillon School 2010 which took place at Siamsa Tíre Theatre in Tralee. Now rebranded purely as Cantillon, the event brings professionals from many sectors together under the concept of a forum which is focussed on fresh thinking. Kerry born, Richard Cantillon (1680-1734) is widely credited as being the first person to use the word ‘entrepreneur’ when it appeared in his famous ‘Essay on the Nature of Commerce in General’ which was published in French in 1755. The Cantillon event celebrates Richard Cantillon’s enormous contribution to modern economic thought and to entrepreneurial thinking by providing opportunities for the general public, to debate issues of national, educational, business and economic interest with entrepreneurs, economists, academics, students, and representatives from the media and public sector organisations.
